Race Preview
The pressure will increase on the field when the F1 action resumes in the United States at the end of October. The race will be staged at a pivotal stage of the campaign, with just 22 points separating Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris at the top of the Drivers’ Championship standings.
Piastri cut an incredibly frustrated figure following the Singapore Grand Prix, as a Norris made contact with his teammate. The collision enabled the Brit to take third, which ultimately delivered McLaren their second consecutive Constructors’ Championship.
Max Verstappen is also still in the mix for the drivers’ title. The reigning world champion has finished in the first two places in each of the last four races, but he lacked the pace to throw down a challenge to George Russell in Singapore at the start of October.
Russell’s victory in Asia could yet be crucial in the race for the Constructors’ Championship, as it enabled Mercedes to leap-frog Ferrari. It was a weekend to forget for Ferrari, with Leclerc taking sixth and Lewis Hamilton only able to finish eighth.

A return to a more conventional circuit should be beneficial for Red Bull at the end of October. Verstappen is driving at a very high level at present, and a third victory in four races could put him in contention for a shock championship push in the final rounds.
