Event Preview

Memories of last weekend’s memorable Ryder Cup-winning success will be high in Europe, but the DP World Tour action rolls on across the coming weekend, as St. Andrews hosts the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

This weekend’s competition has been staged since 2001, with the home of golf hosting the event. Players will compete across 7,318 yards at St. Andrews, with a purse of $5 million being up for grabs in the par 72 competition.

Tyrrell Hatton is an obvious starting point, as the star aims to record a fourth victory at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. The Englishman arrives in excellent recent form, and it could also be worth noting that he holds the aggregate and par records in the event.

Tommy Fleetwood was the standout performer at the Ryder Cup last weekend, winning all but one of his matches against a bewildered USA team. Fleetwood’s talent has been clear to see for a long time, and confidence levels will be sky-high after winning on the PGA Tour for the first time last month.

Harry Hall has been a player making waves on the DP World Tour throughout much of the second half of this calendar year. The 28-year-old failed to make the cut at the Open De France last time, but was T17 at the Tour Championship and T13 at the BMW PGA Championship.

Robert MacIntyre’s confidence will be sky high after being one of the few Europeans to pick up points on the final day of the Ryder Cup. His links ability is clear for all to see, winning the Scottish Open in July 2024. He could be the value play based on the prices this weekend.
