Event Preview

A huge four weeks for golf in the United Kingdom gets underway at the end of June, as the British Masters is staged at the Belfry. The event takes place just two weeks before Royal Liverpool hosts the 2023 edition of The Open, and a number of players involved this weekend will be looking to build momentum before the final major of the season.

The British Masters was re-introduced to the DP World Tour schedule in 2015 after a short absence, and it has been staged at the iconic Belfry since 2021. Last year’s event was won by Thorbjorn Olesen, with Peter Baker holding the par record after finishing 22-under in 1993. The aggregate record is held by Paul Dunne, who finished with a score of 260 in 2017.

Justin Rose is a standout contender this weekend, as he looks for a second victory at the event. He previously landed success in 2002. The English star was last in action at the U.S. Open, but he failed to make the cut after finishing at +4. However, he remains in solid form after finishing in the top ten in each of the PGA Championship and Canadian Open.

Min Woo Lee looks like a competitive angle this weekend, as he has finished in the top ten on three occasions already this term. The Australian has finished in the top ten in each of his previous ten appearances, which includes a tie for ninth at the Travelers Championship last weekend. Adrian Meronk should also not be underestimated after finishing two off the lead at the recent BMW International Open.

British Masters Prediction

Min Woo Lee looks to bring the best recent form into the event this weekend, and he could be the standout selection if he is able to make a quick start. Fabrizio Zanotti is also a value angle. The player finished second in the event in 2015, and holds all the qualities required to excel at the Belfry.
