Event Preview
A competitive renewal of the Cognizant Classic is set for this weekend, with a talented field set to be involved in the competition which has been staged annually since 1972. A total distance of 7,125 yards will be covered by the field, with the current tournament records held by Justin Leonard.
Shane Lowry and Ryan Gerard will be among the top choices in the betting this weekend. The latter has an excellent record at the course, finishing fourth as a rookie in 2023, before finishing a strong T25 on his return 12 months ago. Lowry shouldn’t be dismissed after making the cut on all eight starts at PGA National.
Daniel Berger is another leading hope at his home event. The American missed the cut last time out, but he consistently excels at the Cognizant Classic, finishing runner-up following a playoff in 2015.
A strong European challenge is expected this weekend, with standout names such as Jordan Smith and Rasmus Hojgaard involved. The former should be of considerable interest due to topping the PGA Tour rankings for ball-striking.
Cognizant Classic Picks
Keith Mitchell is of serious interest this weekend at the odds available. The American has made the cut on his last five starts, and he has fond memories of the Cognizant Classic having won his maiden PGA Tour event at the course in 2019, before finishing in the top ten on two starts since.
