Breeders’ Cup Long Shots & Value Bets (Nov 1)

With so much quality on display, it can often be challenging to find value in the odds when wagering on the Breeders’ Cup. However, we have pinpointed three potential value angles to consider at bigger prices at Del Mar on Saturday, November 1, 2025. You can find our Breeders’ Cup Long Shots and Value Bets here. Breeders’ Cup Long Shots
Khadeem (Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint)
I always like taking a price in the big-field sprints, and this year is no different. Big-priced winners of the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint aren’t uncommon, meaning that it is worth overlooking the main principles in the market. Khadeem could be a runner that provides value when assessing the Breeders’ Cup long shots.
The Charles Hills yard has been in consistent form throughout the season, and Frankie Dettori retains the ride after landing the G2 Woodford Stakes aboard the nine-year-old at Keeneland at the start of October.
His late finishing speed could be a key pace angle this Saturday, and he will be closing in on the pace-setters with every stride over the five-furlong trip.
Free Pick:
Clicquot (Breeders’ Cup Distaff)
This year’s Distaff is hardly a vintage renewal of the race, and Seismic Beauty and Nitrogen at the top of the betting are well worth taking on.
Clicquot is the runner for Brendan Walsh, who also saddles Gin Gin. However, this three-year-old presents plenty of upside, and she is still rapidly improving after winning on her last four starts. She was a fine winner of the G1 Cotillion last time out, beating her stablemate in the process.
She gets the weight-for-age allowance in the Distaff, and further improvement is likely, which should put her bang in the picture on the line.
Free Pick:
El Cordobes (Breeders’ Cup Turf)
One of my best bets of the whole Breeders’ Cup weekend comes in the Turf, as El Cordobes is a massive price for Charlie Appleby. Much of the attention in the race has been on Minnie Hauk and Rebel’s Romance, but the El Cordobes is still rapidly improving with every start.
He already has form over Wimbledon Hawkeye, who is available at a much shorter price. His run style will suit the mile and four furlong trip around Del Mar, and he will be coming late from the back of the pack with Billy Loughnane aboard.
The four-year-old was the winner of the G1 Sword Dancer in August, before he was given a hopeless ride in the G1 Joe Hirsch Turf Classic, despite finishing within three lengths of Rebel’s Romance. The gelding is a must for Exotic players, and the win isn’t out of the question either.
