Early Kentucky Derby clues for 2024 will be on show at Santa Anita, as the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile is one of the standout early preps for the Triple Crown race. This race will be run over 1 1/16 miles, and a talented group of ten will go to post. There is a fascinating battle for favouritism, with Locked, Prince of Monaco, and Timberlake all available at short prices.

However, we are very keen on the latter for Brad Cox and Florent Geroux. The two-year-old was excellent on his previous start, beating General Partner by over four lengths in the G1 Champagne Stakes. That was his first effort over a mile, and further improvement is likely over an extended trip.

The top juvenile two-year-olds from across the world on the turf will be in action in the Juvenile Turf. Each of the previous two winners of the race have been trained in the United Kingdom or Ireland, meaning it is little surprise to see the betting dominated by the foreign runners.

Unquestionable looks largely progressive for Aidan O’Brien, but we prefer the chances of the trainer’s other runner. River Tiber steps up to a mile for the first time this weekend after impressive over six furlongs throughout the campaign. The step up should bring out improvement, and he could be great value in the betting.

Agate Road appears to be a fascinating outsider for Todd Pletcher after winning on each of his previous two starts, with the latest of those coming over an extended mile in the G2 Pilgrim Stakes. The two-year-old isn’t likely to be far away.
