Cheltenham Festival Day 2: Turners Novices’ Hurdle Pick & Preview

Just like Day One, the second day of the Cheltenham Festival kicks off with a Grade One novices’ hurdle, this time over two miles and five. No Drama This End is potentially a high-quality runner for Paul Nicholls, but we may see the best of him over fences next season.

I’ll Sort That is being overlooked for the Declan Queally yard, and the six-year-old has done nothing wrong under rules.

He has won four from five starts over obstacles, and was a striking winner of the G1 Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle at Naas in January, beating Sortudo by two lengths. That form has depth, and he will relish this stamina-sapping test at Cheltenham.

Cheltenham Festival Day 2: Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase Pick & Preview

The G1 Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase is the second race on day two, and it could potentially identify a future Gold Cup contender further down the line. Final Demand blotted his record with a no-show at the Dublin Racing Festival, and he is opposable.

Wendigo has been pointed toward this race throughout the season by Jamie Snowden, and has already won at Grade Two level.

I like the fact that he has a recent run under his belt, routinely beating an average field at Ayr over three miles. Looks tailor made for this test, and could develop into a Grand National type over time.

Cheltenham Festival Day 2: Champion Chase Pick & Preview

The feature on Day Two of the Cheltenham Festival is the prestigious G1 Queen Mother Champion Chase. Majborough will be a red-hot favorite after Marine Nationale’s scratching, but the Willie Mullins runner was well-beaten when heavily supported in last year’s Arkle.

Course specialist L’Eau du Sud could instead by the value play for the Dan Skelton team. The eight-year-old was an impressive winner over course and distance this season, easily beating the talented Jonbon by 15 lengths.

Didn’t fire in the G1 Tingle Creek in December, but connections have always stated that the runner performs to his best after a long break, which he has had ahead of this target.
