Event Preview

The Pegasus World Cup Turf will serve as the feature on the undercard at Gulfstream Park this weekend before the 2026 edition of the Pegasus World Cup. This race covers a distance of 1 1/8 miles, with a lucrative purse of $1 million being up for grabs.

Program Trading will be a warm favorite for the Chad Brown yard, as the six-year-old chases a fourth win in stakes company. The runner ran a big race in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Mile in November, finishing five lengths behind Notable Speech. He has run big races over this preferred trip, including winning the G1 Old Forester Bourbon Classic at Churchill Downs in May.

Cugino is likely one of the runners that is open to the most improvement. The five-year-old handled Gulfstream well in December when finishing a close second behind Wolfie’s Dynaghost in the G3 Fort Lauderdale Stakes. Excels over further, evident after winning over a mile and three at Belmont at the Big A in November. A stamina test will suit his chances.

One Stripe also deserves respect. The four-year-old has been efficient in stakes company on the turf, winning two from four starts for Graham Motion. Impressed at Churchill Downs at the end of last year when easily beating Judge Davis by five lengths in an optional claimer. Open to further improvement.

At a bigger price, Fort Washington could be a runner worth considering. The seven-year-old was sixth in the G2 Kentucky Turf Cup in the summer, but this drop back in distance is a big plus. He was a very impressive winner of the G1 Arlington Million in August, and an upset can’t be ruled out.

Pegasus World Cup Turf Picks

Program Trading could be vulnerable against improving runners this weekend, and that gives Test Score an excellent chance for Graham Motion.

The four-year-old was a winner at Santa Anita in October, and excelled over this trip at Saratoga earlier in the summer when beating World Beater to land the G1 Belmont Derby.

Proven over the distance, and had an encouraging return run when beaten under a length at Del Mar by Salamis in the G1 Hollywood Derby.
