Race Preview

France will host the prestigious Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe this Sunday, with a talented field of horses aged three and older competing over a distance of a mile and four furlongs. A lucrative purse of $5 million will be up for grabs, as runners bid to join legendary winners such as Enable, Treve, and Alleged in the history books.

French hopes will likely hang on Aventure this year. The four-year-old filly was a close second behind Bluestocking last year, but she has continued to thrive during this season. Last time out, she was a winner over course and distance, beating Gezora by a length.

Aidan O’Brien doesn’t have the greatest record in the Arc, but he holds a serious chance with the likeable Minnie Hauk on Sunday. The three-year-old landed the G1 Oaks in June, before adding the G1 Irish Oaks in July. Was excellent on her final start before this weekend when impressively scoring in the G1 Yorkshire Oaks.

Japan have long craved success in the Arc, and they have a number of interesting contenders this weekend. Among those include recent course and distance victor Byzantine Dream.

Kalpana was a one-time favorite for the Arc, but has drifted in the betting after a number of underwhelming performances throughout 2025. However, she will be tuned up to give her best running at Longchamp this weekend, and she can’t be overlooked.

Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe Picks

Sosie is a standout selection in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe this weekend, with the Andre Fabre-trained runner aiming to reverse the form with Byzantine Dream. Softer ground conditions over this stamina-sapping distance will play to his favor, and everything suggests that he is capable of going better than his fourth-place finish in the Arc last year.
