Royal Ascot Best Bets: Our Picks for Ascot

By · Updated 6 minutes ago

One of the most unique and celebrated horse racing events on the global calendar is set for mid-June, as the prestigious five-day Royal Ascot meeting gets underway.

Superstar equines from across the world will be in action throughout the week, with high-quality Group Ones set to crown the world leaders on the turf. You can find our picks and best bets for Royal Ascot here.

Royal Ascot Best Bets

Royal Ascot Best Bet: True Love (Coronation Stakes- June 19 @ 11:20 AM ET)

One of my best bets for Royal Ascot this year comes in the G1 Coronation Stakes. True Love looks like a very strong contender in the fillies’ race over a mile after producing an excellent effort when winning the 1000 Guineas.

She was edged out by stablemate Precise in the Irish 1000 Guineas last time, but the run of the race didn’t suit. True Love is already a five-time winner in stakes company, which includes an excellent win in last year’s G2 Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot.

She is expected to put her recent disappointment behind her and resume winning ways.

Royal Ascot Next Best: Rayevka (King Charles III Stakes- June 16 @ 10:40 AM ET)

Sprinters will be in action on Day 1 at Royal Ascot, and my next best runs in the G1 King Charles III Stakes. Rayevka has been on my radar since last year, running with huge credit when third in the 21-runner G1 Commonwealth Cup.

She was beaten throughout last season, but never disgraced. Francis Graffard finally looked to have unlocked her potential on return, winning impressively in Group Three company over five furlongs.

A return to better ground is a plus, and her experience at Ascot should be respected. It is also worth noting that her sire, Blue Point, won the King Charles III Stakes in back-to-back years in 2018 and 2019.

Royal Ascot Longshot: Night In Vegas (Coventry Stakes- June 16 @ 10:05 AM ET)

My best long shot at Royal Ascot comes in the G2 Coventry Stakes, which is the second race on Day 1. Night In Vegas is a horse that I really like for the underrated Eve Johnson Houghton stable.

The two-year-old has been faultless in two career starts to date, which included a striking win over course and distance on debut in May.

The strength of that form reads well, and the colt later followed up with an equally impressive display when carrying a penalty at Goodwood. Sire, Lucky Vega, was a high-class performer as a juvenile, winning the G1 Phoenix Stakes.
