- The Mets have had balanced play, sitting just above .500 so far.
- Detroit continues flailing, but remains in 3rd place in their division.
- New York is 13-11 in their all-time history against the Detroit Tigers.
The Mets and the Tigers face off in an interesting interleague clash. The Mets are fighting to stay afloat in a strong NL East, while Detroit is hoping to find improvement this year. There are key bets on both sides.

Prop Bets
Prediction:
Javier Baez had the worst season of his career in his first year with the Tigers in 2022, posting a .671 OPS. Despite his struggles, he started 144 games, and was a key piece of Detroit’s batting lineup. He’s off to a similar start this season, hitting just .233 so far, but has been heating up quite a bit as of late. Since April 13, Baez has gone 17 for his last 50 (.340) at the plate. I see him getting a hit and an RBI against the Mets.

Prediction:
Starling Marte played a major role in New York’s batting lineup last season, hitting .292 in 118 games played. His performance earned him the #2 spot in the lineup, where he continues to produce. Unfortunately, Marte has cooled off a bit over the past couple of weeks. Since April 15, Marte has gone just 8 for 49 (.163). He’s shown some signs of breaking out of his slump, but I still like the under more here.

Prediction:
In 4 starts this season, Max Scherzer has thrown 17 strikeouts, throwing 6 in two of the games, and 3 or fewer in the other two. Scherzer’s ability to reach a higher strikeout total relies on how long he can stay in the game. When he was forced out early due to pitching struggles, or ejected for suspicious substances, he came up short. Against a poor offense like the Tigers, Scherzer should have the length to reach 5 K’s.
