Belal Muhammad vs. Jack Della Maddalena Preview
Some fans label Belal Muhammad as boring, but facts don’t lie – he’s an elite welterweight and the reigning UFC champ for a reason. His record stands at 24-3-1, with all three of his losses happening before 2020.
After a no-contest against Leon Edwards in 2021 (eye poke), Belal went on a six-fight win streak. The final victory in that run happened in a rematch with Edwards, when the two fought for the belt.
Belal dominated the title fight, scoring nine takedowns, which is his career high. Belal’s no one-trick pony, though, the best evidence being that he landed 21 more significant strikes than Edwards, who’s famous for his kickboxing prowess.
Now, he wants to beat Jack Della Maddalena at his own game – striking. The Aussie is a hell of a striker who packs a lot of power. He’s 17-2 overall with 12 KO/TKO wins.
He dishes out nearly 7 significant strikes per minute, making him one of the most dangerous strikers at 170. Four of his seven UFC wins came in Round 1, but we haven’t seen how he holds up over five rounds.
Belal Muhammad vs. Jack Della Maddalena Prediction
Jack Della Maddalena’s biggest weakness is wrestling. In his last fight, Gilbert Burns took him down seven times. But Belal says he doesn’t plan to go for takedowns. Instead, he wants this to be a striking contest.
If he goes through with this plan, he’s in trouble. Sure, he’s a pretty decent striker, but the numbers clearly show that Della Maddalena is better in this respect.
