The bout is the new short-notice main event of UFC Fight Night 282 in Abu Dhabi.

Bogdan Guskov stepped in to replace Khalil Rountree Jr., moving his bout from Belgrade to Abu Dhabi. The Uzbek heavyweight will meet the former light heavyweight champion, Magomed Ankalaev.

Magomed Ankalaev (21-2-1) was preparing to face Khalil Rountree Jr., but an injury forced Rountree off the card just two weeks before the event. For many, this was supposed to be the title eliminator, which would set up a title bout with the reigning champion, Carlos Ulberg.

Ankalaev is an elite technician in the light heavyweight division, with precise counter-striking and an elite sambo base that make him incredibly difficult to break down. Apart from that, he has a strong dose of discipline, so it’s no wonder he has been one of the best in the division over the past 5 years.

Bogdan “Hitman” Guskov (18-3) earned immense respect from the MMA community by instantly accepting this main event spot when several other ranked fighters declined the short-notice trip to Abu Dhabi.

Guskov is arguably the most explosive guy in the division. The Uzbek boasts 18 career wins with all 18 coming by way of finish, including a staggering 13 in the very first round. Also, 15 of his triumphs came via knockout.
