Fiziev vs. Bahamondes Preview
Rafael Fiziev (12-4) enters this one on a three-fight skid, including two losses to Justin Gaethje and one injury TKO to Mateusz Gamrot.
He stepped in last minute at UFC 313 to rematch Gaethje and got outpointed. Still, the Azeri crowd will be in his corner now, and that could push him to another level.
This guy dodges strikes like Neo from The Matrix and has the kind of explosiveness that turns lights out – the evidence is that eight of his 12 wins happened by KO/TKO.
On the other side, Ignacio Bahamondes (17-5) is a striker with fast hands who’s got 11 wins by KO/TKO in his portfolio. He’s also very tough, the proof being that he’s never been finished.
But the one time he faced a striker on Fiziev’s level (Makdessi), he came up short, losing by decision. Wrestling won’t be the factor here, and his last win via triangle choke won’t mean much in a pure stand-up war.
Fiziev vs. Bahamondes Prediction
Fiziev has his back against the wall, so winning is a must for this guy. It won’t be easy as Bahamondes is pretty much at the same level as he is when striking is concerned. Actually, as per UFC on ABC 8 odds, he’s even better.
