UFC Vegas 109 Picks for All Fights on August 9
You may think that Apex events are boring, but our UFC Vegas 109 prediction is that there’s gonna be fireworks in the Octagon on August 9. The main event is so good that we think it’s going to win the Fight of the Night accolade easily.
In fact, that’s why we did a standalone Dolidze vs. Hernandez preview. In this post, however, we’re going to present you with UFC Vegas 109 picks for all the other fights. So, let’s start!
UFC Vegas 109 Main Card Predictions

- Andre Fili vs. Christian Rodriguez – Andre Fili
- Miles Johns vs. Jean Matsumoto – Miles Johns
- Eryk Anders vs. Christian Leroy Duncan – Eryk Anders
We can see some big betting upsets happening at UFC Vegas 109. The +415 underdog Eryk Anders, for example, looks more than capable of beating CLD. His opponent might be a powerful striker, but he tends not to do well against experienced fighters. And 38-year-old Anders has 2x as many fights under his belt as Duncan.
Priced at +250, Miles Johns also looks capable of staging an upset. He’s a well-rounded fighter who’s taking on the very hittable Jean Matsumoto. The 25-year-old Brazilian fighter has a “baby face” and bleeds easily. And keep in mind that the August 9 event is taking place in Nevada, where the judges seem to care about damage the most.
Then, there’s Andre Fili, a seasoned veteran whose UFC career started 12 years ago. He’s priced at +214, but we suspect he might win. The thing is that his opponent, Christian Rodriguez, has never defeated someone who had more than three wins in the UFC before facing him. Guess how many Fili has? Twelve!
There’s also Angela Hill, a 40-year-old veteran who last defeated Katlen Souza by a split decision. She’s got great striking skills (5.47 significant strikes a minute), and her takedown defense is 75%. This makes her a kryptonite for Iasmin Lucindo, who landed just 4 strikes in her last outing.
We also have one betting favorite to back on the main card – Steve Erceg. He’s a hell of a wrestler, and Ode’ Osbourne is horrible at TD defense. This is something the Aussie needs to take advantage of.
Picks for UFC Vegas 109 Prelims

While we can see underdogs going wild on the main card, we don’t think we’ll see too many shocking upsets in the preliminaries. In fact, we’re backing favorites in all matchups on the preliminary card.
The only UFC Vegas 108 prediction we’re not 100% confident about is Gabriella Fernandes in the first fight of the evening. The main reason why we’d advise staying away from this fight is that Julija Stoliarenko is a hell of a grappler with a submission-to-win ratio of 10-to-11.
