Event Preview
All of the attention this weekend will be on the penultimate race of the NASCAR Cup Series regular season. An important race in the context of the playoff battle is set for New Hampshire Motor Speedway, with the field set to compete across 301 laps to make up the 319.458km race distance. The opening stage consists of 75 laps, before 110 and 116 laps are competed in the final two stages.
Denny Hamlin continues to set the pace in the Drivers’ Championship standings after finishing in the top five on three occasions since the regular season resumed. Hamlin is also the only four-time race winner on the Cup Series schedule in 2026.
Ty Gibbs continues to make eye-catching headway late in the season following a second win of 2026 in the Iowa Corn 350 at the start of August, while Ryan Blaney could yet re-emerge as a leading danger in the playoff chase. Tyler Reddick has dropped down the standings in recent months, despite having won five of the opening ten races. Since then, he has finished in the top five on just four occasions.
Some big names will be under increasing pressure in the playoff hunt, including Kyle Larson, who is yet to reach his peak level of performance this season. Larson is yet to win on the Cup Series schedule in 2026, and he has finished outside of the top 20 places in four of the last five rounds.
Dollar Tree 301 Picks
Christopher Bell has been the unluckiest driver on the grid in recent weeks, finishing as the runner-up in four of the five races before the Cook Out 400. Bell’s record in the Dollar Tree 301 will give him an excellent chance of reversing his fortunes this weekend, as he has twice won the race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway since 2022.
