Event Preview
The Eero 400 has been an anticipated date in the diary for many NASCAR fans since it was announced that a race at Chicagoland Speedway would return to the schedule for the first time since 2019. The track first hosted NASCAR action back in 2001, and the field will cover a distance of 400.5 miles this weekend.
Shane van Gisbergen made an excellent start to the In-Season Challenge last weekend, claiming victory in a dominant fashion in the Toyota/Save Mart 350. However, a return to the oval circuit will negatively impact his chances of recording back-to-back wins.
Denny Hamlin is an obvious contender based on his form so far this season, winning four races to sit at the top of the Drivers’ Championship. Hamlin settled for 26th in last weekend’s race, but he has finished in the top five in five of the seven rounds.
Tyler Reddick’s red-hot start to the season has lost pace, finishing outside of the top 20 in each of the last two rounds. Consistency has been a major factor for Ryan Blaney in recent months, with the American finishing in the top ten in each of the last six rounds.
