Event Preview

The second of two races to be staged at Phoenix Raceway on the NASCAR Cup Series schedule is set for this Sunday, as the Freeway Insurance 500 will see the field compete across 312 miles, which is made up by a total of 312 laps. This race has been dominated by Team Penske in recent years, with Joey Logano winning two of the previous four editions.

Kyle Larson will be the driver to beat, with his strong runs across all one-mile intermediate venues likely to be a key reason for strong market support. Larson has won twice in the six postseason races, and is yet to finish outside of the top six.

Christopher Bell is a specialist driver at Phoenix Raceway, and his Drivers’ Championship credentials remain strong as he sits third in the standings. Bell was a winner at Darlington recently, and was the runner-up at last weekend’s Bank of America 400.

Chase Briscoe brings the standout recent form into this weekend, with his back-to-back wins seeing him climb up to fourth in the Drivers’ Championship. Denny Hamlin should also be respected, having finished in the top ten in four of the last five rounds.

Freeway Insurance 500 Picks

Joey Logano could be the interesting contender when assessing the NASCAR betting odds this weekend. Team Penske has dominated this weekend’s race, with three wins in the last four editions. Logano has won the Freeway Insurance 500 twice since 2022, and his postseason form has been reliable with a win and four further top-ten finishes.
