Event Preview
The attention turns to Alabama this weekend, with the prestigious Talladega Superspeedway hosting the 2026 edition of the Jack Link’s 500. This race was first staged back in 1970, with the field set to complete a total distance of 500.08 miles. A total of 188 laps will be completed by the winner, with the final stage seeing the pivotal 45 laps contested.
It has been a stunning start to the 2026 Cup Series season for Tyler Reddick, with the current leader in the Drivers’ Championship winning for the fifth time this term in the AdventHealth 400. Reddick has only finished outside of the top ten in two of the nine races so far.
Denny Hamlin and Ryan Blaney are the closest contenders to the leader at this stage, with Hamlin finishing fourth last weekend to achieve a fifth top-ten finish in the last six rounds. Pressure will be on Blaney to bounce back after finishing a disappointing 24th last weekend.
Kyle Larson endured a frustrating second-place finish last time out, but the reigning champion has now achieved top-three finishes in the last two rounds. Chase Elliott failed to add to his win in the Cook Out 400 last weekend, but a return to form with an eighth-place finish should be considered a positive.
Jack Link’s 500 Picks
Reddick looks like a red-hot contender once again this weekend. However, at a bigger price, Ty Gibbs could be primed to make a statement. Gibbs has been ultra consistent in 2026, winning the Food City 500, and claiming top-ten finishes in each of the last seven rounds.
