Event Preview

History will be made this weekend, as the first street race in NASCAR Cup Series history will be staged. This weekend’s race will be the inaugural edition of the Grant Park 220, with a total distance of 220 miles being covered on the streets of Chicago. A total of 100 laps will be covered by the field in Illinois, with the opening two stages being made up of 30 laps apiece. The remaining 40 laps will then be covered in the final stage.

This weekend’s race will be a totally unique event on the NASCAR calendar, as there hasn’t previously been a contest competed on a street layout. However, Tyler Reddick is expected to make the streets of Chicago his own, as he is currently the top choice in the betting.

The driver has previous experience over a street course, and that could be a key factor in his favor this weekend. However, he will need to recover after some disappointing efforts in recent weeks, as he has failed to finish in the top 30 in each of his previous three starts.

Chase Elliott could also be a prominent selection this weekend, after finishing in back-to-back top five finishes. Ross Chastain should come into this weekend’s race in good confidence, as he landed victory in the Ally 400 last time out. That victory moved him up to third in the standings, with Martin Truex Jr continuing to lead the way after finishing second in last weekend’s race.

NASCAR 2023: Grant Park 220 Predictions

This weekend’s race will be a standout event on the NASCAR calendar this weekend. It promises to be an exciting first edition of the Grant Park 220, and we will be siding with Chase Elliott to continue his fine recent form on the track.
