Event Preview
The pressure on drivers involved in the Cup Series Chase increases this weekend, as the Enjoy Illinois 300 will be staged at World Wide Technology Raceway. This race has been staged since 2022, and this weekend’s race will cover 300 miles. A total of 240 laps will make up the race distance, with 45 laps contested in the opening stage, before 95 and 100 laps are completed in the second and final stages, respectively.
Christopher Bell appears to have hit form at a crucial stage of the season after winning the Cook Out Southern 500 last weekend. That was Bell’s first win of the season after finishing in the top five in six of the previous nine races.
Denny Hamlin continues to lead the Drivers’ Championship standings, despite finishing 18th in last weekend’s race. Hamlin has now finished outside of the top ten in the last two rounds. Ryan Blaney achieved a top-five finish last weekend, continuing his solid form since winning the Dollar Tree 301.
Tyler Reddick shouldn’t be dismissed this weekend in Illinois after finishing third in back-to-back races, and failing to finish outside of the top 15 in the previous five.
Ty Gibbs has also been extremely consistent in the second half of the season, finishing second last time out. He has now finished in the top ten in three of the last five rounds.
Enjoy Illinois 300 Picks
Joey Logano is a previous winner of the Enjoy Illinois 300, and he could prove to be an interesting betting angle this weekend. Logano finished ninth last weekend, and he has finished in the top ten in five of the previous eight rounds, winning on two occasions over that period.
