Event Preview

The penultimate race on the NASCAR schedule before the In-Season Challenge is staged at Pocono Raceway this weekend, as the 2026 The Great American Getaway 400 is staged. This race has been staged since 1974, and the field will complete 400 miles. The distance is made up by 160 laps, with the final two stages consisting of 65 laps apiece.

Denny Hamlin is the man to beat this weekend. Hamlin has won each of the last two rounds to move within striking distance of Tyler Reddick at the top of the Drivers’ Championship. Hamlin’s record in this race must also be respected after winning The Great American Getaway 400 on five previous occasions.

Chase Briscoe won the race 12 months ago, and he could hold interesting claims after a return to the top ten in the FireKeepers Casino 400 last time out. Kyle Larson also enjoyed a return to form with a four-place finish last weekend, while Carson Hocevar claimed fifth.

Interestingly, three of the top five in the Drivers’ Championship finished outside of the top ten last weekend, including current leader Tyler Reddick, who endured his worst finish of the season in 35th. In contrast, Bubba Wallace enjoyed his best finish of 2026 after finishing third.

The Great American Getaway 400 Picks

The recent form of Denny Hamlin makes him extremely hard to overlook this weekend. Hamlin has won the last two races on the schedule, and he holds the record at The Great American Getaway 400 with five race wins.
