Event Preview

The thrilling In-Season Challenge on the NASCAR schedule gets underway at the end of June, with the first of five races coming in the form of the Toyota/Save Mart 350. This race covers a total of 218.9 miles, which means that the drivers involved will complete a total of 110 laps.

The unique nature of the track makes it challenging for drivers on the NASCAR roster, but it played to the strengths of Shane van Gisbergen, who was a dominant winner 12 months ago. The New Zealander’s excellent record in road races has continued over the last 18 months, and his skills could be better tailored to this test than most.

Tyler Reddick will also be among the leading contenders after showing his prowess on road tracks already this season. Reddick’s confidence will still be high after winning five times this season, and finishing in the top five in three of the last five races.

Denny Hamlin is Reddick’s closest challenge in the battle for the Drivers’ Championship this season, and his confidence will be sky high following excellent back-to-back wins. Ryan Blaney’s consistency will make him a leading chance after achieving top ten finishes in four of the last six regular season races.

Toyota/Save Mart 350 Picks

The layout of the track will be perfectly suited to Shane van Gisbergen in California. Therefore, we could see the Kiwi going back-to-back at Sonoma Raceway.
