Two games of the 2024 NBA Playoffs are on the program on Thursday, May 9, namely, Cleveland Cavaliers at Boston Celtics and Dallas Mavericks at Oklahoma City Thunder. The home team has a 1-0 lead in each of these games, which is why we expect the visitors to switch up a gear in Game 2.

But which of their players will take the game to a whole new level this evening? Keep reading to find out because we’re now going to present you with our top NBA player props for May 9.

Cavaliers vs. Celtics

How to Watch

  • When: Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. ET
  • Where: TD Garden, Boston, Massachusetts
  • Channel: ESPN

Prop Pick

The Boston Celtics won the first game 120-95, which is kind of surprising given that the Cleveland Cavaliers were great in the previous stage of the postseason.

Their best player Donovan Mitchell did okay in Game 1, scoring 33 points, which accounts for more than one-third of Cleveland’s points in that match.

His teammates, however, did not do great. Only three other Cavaliers went 10+ that night, with Max Strus being one of those who disappointed the most. He scored just 5 points in Game 1, but we think he’s gonna make amends tonight and score at least twice as many.

NBA Player PropOdds
Max Strus Over 9.5 Points-112

Mavericks vs. Thunder

How to Watch

  • When: Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 9:30 p.m. ET
  • Where: Paycom Center, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
  • Channel: ESPN

Prop Pick

The Dallas Mavericks lost 117-95 to the Oklahoma City Thunder in their first game. The reason behind this is that Luka Doncic had a horrible game that evening, at least for his standards. The Slovenian superstar scored just 19 points.

We say “just” because it was only the fourth time this year that he scored under 20, as well as his least productive performance in the 2024 NBA postseason. Our prediction is that he’s going to do much better in the Mavericks vs. Thunder Game 2.

NBA Player PropOdds
Luka Doncic Over 30.5 Points-134
