  • The Lakers and Timberwolves face off in a Western Conference battle.
  • Minnesota is a half-game ahead of the Lakers and both are currently in the play-in tournament section of the standings.
  • The Lakers beat the Bulls on Wednesday with Anthony Davis leading the way.

LeBron James and the Lakers are making a late push with hopes of getting the sixth seed, but they are 1.5 games back of the Golden State Warriors. A win over Minnesota on Friday would give the Lakers the seventh spot.

Game Preview

The Lakers beat the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday, 121-110. Anthony Davis led the way with 38 points and 10 rebounds on 13-20 from the field in a massive showing.

LeBron James scored 25 on 10-19, and Austin Reaves added 19 points with 5 assists. The Lakers lost to this same Bulls team on Sunday but responded with a much-needed win with the season coming down to the wire.

The Timberwolves lost to the Phoenix Suns, ruining a four-game winning streak that has sent them right back into the playoff picture. The Timberwolves last beat the Lakers at the beginning of March, although LeBron James missed the contest with an injury.

Anthony Edwards led the way with 31 points in the loss, and Minnesota will lose the 7th seed if they fall to the Lakers.

Prediction

The Lakers are doing whatever it takes in order to get into the playoffs, and they are right on the cusp of avoiding the play-in tournament. LeBron James and Anthony Davis will remain day-to-day until the season ends, but the return of D’Angelo Russell was a breath of fresh air.

The Lakers walk into Minnesota and get another tough victory.
