Game Preview

The Green Wave (17-14, 8-10 American) ended conference play with a rough stretch, losing four straight games to Tulsa, USF, Temple, and Memphis. The Green Wave backcourt duo of Rowan Brumbaugh and Asher Woods each earned American Conference postseason honors this season. Brumbaugh was named All-Conference Second Team after leading the Green Wave in scoring, rebounds, assists, and steals. Woods earned the Amir Abdur-Rahim Sportsmanship Award for best exemplifying the qualities of sportsmanship, fair play and leadership. Meanwhile, Curtis Williams Jr. will look to be productive in the game with averages of 12.5 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.

The Tigers (13-18, 8-10 American) finally ended a seven-game losing streak by taking down Tulane in the season finale, punching the 10th and last ticket to the conference tournament. They lead the conference in three-point percentage defense holding opponents to 30.1 percent shooting from beyond the arc and rank second in the league in field goal percentage defense limiting teams to 42.4 percent overall. Meanwhile, on offense Memphis leads the league in bench points averaging 32.06 per game which ranks 16th in the nation. Dug McDaniel has averaged 21.6 points over his last five games while shooting 53.7 percent from the floor.

Tulane vs Memphis Head-to-Head

The two programs have had 81 meetings in their history, and the result is 66-15 for the Tigers. The last matchup was in March this year when Memphis won 96-95 in overtime on the road.

Tulane vs Memphis Predictions

A win would allow either team to advance to the second round Thursday against No. 5 seed Charlotte. The Green Wave nearly eliminated the Tigers from being eligible for the conference tournament, but Memphis refused to let that happen. Considering how much it took Memphis to pull away with the road win in the season finale, it is probable that Tulane will get payback and send the Tigers packing this time around. Our betting pick here is the Green Wave to cover a 4-point spread.
