Game Preview

Dan Hurley and the No. 6 Huskies (29-4, 18-2 Big East) continue to shine as one of the best Big East squads, taking down Xavier and Georgetown en route to the championship game. Braylon Mullins led the Huskies with 21 points against Georgetown on Friday night, becoming the sixth UConn freshman with 20 or more in a BIG EAST Tournament game and the first to post at least 20 points and five rebounds. Meanwhile, Solo Ball was UConn’s top scorer on Thursday vs. Xavier with 19 points and is averaging 13.0 in the tournament, while Tarris Reed Jr. is averaging a double-double with 11.5 points and 10.5 rebounds on 61.1 percent shooting in the two wins.

Rick Pitino and the No. 13 Red Storm (27-6, 18-2 Big East) are enjoying an incredible campaign, coasting to the top seed and a share of the Big East regular-season title. They took down Providence in the quarterfinals and Seton Hall in the semifinals to get to the title game. BIG EAST Player and Defensive Player of the Year Zuby Ejiofor leads SJU across the board with 16.3 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.0 blocks and 1.1 steals per game. Bryce Hopkins adds 13.3 points and 6.2 rebounds while Oziyah Sellers is the third Johnnie in double-figures with 10.6 points per game.
