Game Preview
The Bearcats (15-12, 7-7 Big 12) see themselves in the middle of the pack within the Big 12 standings. Despite this, they are coming off four consecutive wins over UCF, Kansas State Utah, and ranked Kansas. Baba Miller is one of three players in college basketball this season averaging at least 13-10-3. Duke’s Cameron Boozer (22.6, 10.0, 4.0) and Butler’s Michael Ajayi (16.0, 11.1, 3.2) are the others. Miller is producing 13.9 points, 10.2 boards and 3.4 assists per game this season.
The No. 16 Red Raiders (20-7, 10-4 Big 12) played their first game without star forward JT Toppin, who tore his ACL against Arizona State on Feb. 17. They are back on the win column after blowing out Kansas State, who is going through a transition period after firing Jerome Tang. Christian Anderson stands out as the next best player, leading the Big 12 and is third nationally with 7.7 assists per game and is also on the Wooden Award and Naismith National Player of the Year Late-Season Watch Lists. On another note, Donovan Atwell leads the Big 12 with 100 made 3-pointers this season and is second in the conference by shooting 45.7% from deep.
Houston vs Kansas Head-to-Head
The two programs have had three meetings in their history, and the result is 2-1 for the Bearcats. The last matchup was in January 2025 when Texas Tech won 81-71 on the road.
Houston vs Kansas Predictions
The Red Raiders may have been the better performing team throughout the regular season, but their quality will be put to the test without JT Toppin. Cincinnati boasts the advantage of being healthier with its best players available like Baba Miller, paving the way for an upset to take place on Texas Tech’s homecourt. Our betting pick here is the Bearcats to cover a 6.5-point spread.
