Game Preview
The No. 14 Gators (17-6, 8-2 SEC) are on a mission to return to the mountaintop of the national championship like they did last season, shining as one of the best teams in the country. They are rolling with three consecutive victories over the likes of South Carolina, Alabama, and Texas A&M.
Thomas Haugh has fully settled in as one of the Gators’ top stars, averaging 17.8 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. Rueben Chinyelu has also had a solid stretch of games, producing 13.7 points in the last 10 contests he took part in. Meanwhile, Alex Condon will look to fill up the stat sheet in this matchup, providing 13.4 points, eight rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.5 blocks per game.
Having begun the year 12-1 at one point, Georgia (17-6, 5-5 SEC) has taken a step back in sec play. While the Bulldogs possess one of the best offenses in the country, they need to create consistency down the stretch to pull off wins against the top squads in their conference.
Jeremiah Wilkinson leads the way with a team-high 17.1 points per game, while Blue Cain comes next with an average of 13.2 points. On another note, Somtochukwu Cyril has a key role on the defensive side of the ball with 9.5 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per contest. As for the squad, they top the national charts in fastbreak points (22.3 ppg) and blocks (6.9 bpg) while ranking second in scoring offense (91.9 ppg).
Florida vs Georgia Head-to-Head
The two programs have had 229 meetings in their history, and the result is 127-102 for the Gators. The last matchup was in January this year when Florida secured a 92-77 win at home.
Florida vs Georgia Predictions
The Bulldogs haven’t been the same team since their hot start to the season, significantly regressing on the defensive side of the ball. They are well aware that Florida is no joke, who will be active on the glass to the detriment of Georgia. If they wish to come away with the win at home, the Bulldogs will need to outmatch them in terms of physicality while having efficient shot selection throughout the game. Otherwise, this matchup will go in the Gators’ favor. Our betting pick here is the Gators to defend a 9.5-point spread.
