Game Preview
The No. 14 Jayhawks (21-7, 11-4 Big 12) got back on track after a shaky stretch of games, stunning the No. 5 Houston Cougars on Feb. 23. They lead the Big 12 in field goal percentage defense at 38.5%, which is fifth nationally, and three-point field goal percentage defense at 29.8%, which is 17th nationally. Darryn Peterson continues to boast high projections in the upcoming NBA draft, averaging 19.5 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, Melvin Council Jr. is third in the Big 12, 34th nationally, with a 2.90 assist-to-turnover ratio.
The No. 2 Wildcats (26-2, 13-2 Big 12) are firmly back on track, recently earning wins over Houston and Baylor. They rank third in the country in points in the paint/game (43.7) for the entire season. Anthony Dell’Orso was named to the Big 12 Weekly Starting Five after scoring 22 points (Arizona career high) against BYU and Houston last week. He is 8-of-18 from the 3-point line over the last three games. On another note, Jaden Bradley was on the Naismith Trophy Late-Season Watch List. He scored 25 points at Baylor, his fifth game of 20 or more points this season.
