Game Preview

Dan Hurley and the Huskies (34-5) are back in the championship game for the third time in four years. They eliminated Furman, UCLA, Michigan State, Duke, and Illinois to get to this point of the season. Tarris Reed Jr. led the Huskies with his third double-double of the Big Dance, posting game-highs of 17 points and 11 rebounds. Coming off his iconic moment in the Elite Eight Braylon Mullins scored 15 points and knocked down four 4-pointers, including the game-icing troika inside of the final minute. Solo Ball joined them in double-digits with 13 points, knocking down three from distance and posting a team-best +19 plus/minus.

Dusty May and the Wolverines (36-3) cruised to the final round after dominant wins over Howard, Saint Louis, Alabama, Tennessee, and Arizona. Aday Mara scored 26 points, his third game of 20 points or more this season, and added nine rebounds, three assists and two blocks. Trey McKenney scored 16 points on four three-pointers. Elliot Cadeau recorded his third double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 assists, along with four steals. Yaxel Lendeborg contributed 11 points with three three-pointers in as many attempts. Morez Johnson Jr. was the final double-digit scorer with 10 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

UConn vs Michigan Head-to-Head

The two programs have had three meetings in their history, and the result is 2-1 for the Huskies. The last matchup was in November 2015 when UConn won 74-60 in the Bahamas.

UConn vs Michigan Predictions

The winner of this matchup will stand tall as the national champions. Both teams are dealing with health issues as UConn is monitoring Solo Ball’s injury while Michigan is optimistic about Yaxel Lendeborg’s status for the final game of the campaign. Dan Hurley would want nothing more than to add to his dynasty of three titles in four years, but Dusty May might put a stop to that by containing the Huskies’ potent attack. Our betting pick here is for the Wolverines to defend a 7-point spread.
