Game Preview

The No. 23 Billikens (25-2, 13-1 A-10) had an incredible 18-game win streak after losing to Rhode Island but bounced back with a solid win over VCU. They maintain their place in the AP Top 25 as one of the best mid-major stories in college basketball. They lead the country in field-goal percentage defense (.363) and rank third nationally in 3-point percentage defense (.277). Aside from Robbie Avila’s star efforts, Trey Green will look to assert himself in this game. He is averaging 11.6 points per game, leading the A-10 in 3-pointers made per game (3.08) and 3-point percentage (.468, third in the NCAA).

The Flyers (18-9, 9-5 A-10) are in solid form throughout ACC Play, winning their last three conference matchups over Davidson, George Mason and Duquesne. Amael L’Etang is the reigning A-10 co-Player of the Week after averaging 19.0 points and 8.0 rebounds in wins over George Washington and Duquesne. On another note, Javon Bennett leads Dayton with 15.9 points per game and is the team’s top playmaker with 82 assists.

Saint Louis vs Dayton Head-to-Head

The two programs have had 75 meetings in their history, and the result is 44-31 for the Flyers. The last matchup was in January this year when Saint Louis won 102-71 at home.

Saint Louis vs Dayton Predictions

Saint Louis earned an important win over VCU, protecting its place at the top spot of the conference standings. The ranked Billikens are in the mix for the A-10 regular-season title, which would give them a huge advantage in the conference tournament and boost their resume for an At-Large bid for the NCAA Tournament. Winning is almost required for them, something they will look to do against a solid Flyers unit. Our betting pick here is the Billikens to defend a 3.5-point spread.
