Game Preview

The No. 13 Red Raiders (19-6, 9-3 Big 12) are back in a winning rhythm with their latest matchups. Since losing to ranked Kansas, they bounced back with three consecutive wins over West Virginia, Colorado and especially Arizona. Beating the No. 1 squad in the country at the time is monumental for Texas Tech, giving them a strong resume for an At-Large bid.

JT Toppin earned another Big 12 Player of the Week honor, his fourth of the season. He came through with a dominant double-double of 31 points and 13 rebounds to lead Texas Tech in the upset win over Arizona. Christian Anderson also was crucial in the game after making six 3-pointers throughout the game, displaying himself as a key perimeter threat for the upcoming matchup against Arizona State.

The Sun Devils (13-12, 4-8 Big 12) have struggled throughout the course of conference play so far, losing in eight of their first 12 matchups. February has showcased some promise with a 2-1 record, beating the Utah Utes and the Oklahoma State Cowboys while losing to the Colorado Buffaloes.

Maurice Odom leads Arizona State with 17 points per game this season, ranking 13th in the Big 12. He is also currently third in the conference with six assists per game. Massamba Diop will look to be vital on the defensive side of the ball, ranking second in the conference in blocks made with 53 and counting.

Texas Tech vs Arizona State Head-to-Head

The two programs have had 10 meetings in their history, and the result is 4-6 for the Boilermakers. The last matchup was in March 2025 when Texas Tech won 85-57 on the road.

Texas Tech vs Arizona State Predictions

The Sun Devils may have homecourt advantage but haven’t been able to maximize that with a 7-5 record. This leaves them vulnerable to visiting teams gaining momentum early on as it becomes harder for Arizona State to set the tone from the start. Also, if they can’t keep JT Toppin in check, anticipate a blowout loss to proceed in convincing fashion. Our betting pick here is the Red Raiders to defend a 7.5-point spread.
