Game Preview

The Wisconsin Badgers (16-7, 8-4 B10) have had a solid start in Big Ten Play, winning six of their last eight games. They also play at a great level against decent to tournament-contending teams, going 15-7 so far this season.

Ending January with wins over Minnesota and Ohio State, the squad began February with an overtime road loss to the Indiana Hoosiers. They remain potent as a squad that can make noise for an At-Large bid. Nicholas Boyd stands out with averages of 20.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game for the Badgers. Meanwhile, John Blackwell has been putting up 18.9 points and 5.2 rebounds over the past 10 games.

The No. 8 Illinois Fighting Illini (20-4, 11-2 B10) are off to a blazing start, having won 12 consecutive games. It was the longest win streak in the last 13 seasons, showing the success the program is having this year. Their overall start is the program’s best start since opening the 2005-06 campaign with a 22-4 record. However, that ended after losing in overtime to ranked Michigan State on the road.

Keaton Wagler stars the team as one of the best freshmen in the country. Having earned National Player of the Week honors and weekly Big Ten honors multiple times, he leads the Big Ten and ranks 15th in the NCAA in 3-point field goal shooting at 43.3% (61-141).

Wisconsin vs Illinois Head-to-Head

The two programs have had 29 meetings in their history, and the result is 17-12 for the Badgers. The last was in February 2025 when Wisconsin won 95-74 on the road.

Wisconsin vs Illinois Predictions

The Badgers finally ended a nine-game losing streak against the Fighting Illini last season, hoping to start a win streak in their favor. However, Illinois will look to avenge that loss last season with a strong performance on its homecourt. It will take a lot for the hosts to hold off the visitors, but Wisconsin won’t be discouraged in enemy territory. Our betting pick here is the Badgers to cover a 10.5-point spread.
