Preview
Oklahoma State’s up-and-down season continued last week with a stunning win over BYU. After entering halftime trailing the Cougars 24-6 at home, the Cowboys managed to score 3 unanswered touchdowns and regain the lead. They went on to win the game in double overtime, clinching a spot in the Big-12 title game. Oklahoma State’s defense has been awful as of late, and needs to bounce back against Texas here.
Texas continued to roll on Saturday, defeating Texas Tech by 50 points. The Longhorns are in a decent position in the CFP race. Their 10-point road win over Alabama headlines a strong strength of record. While a loss in this game would prevent them from having a shot at the CFP, a win would give them a chance. Texas needs to win this game confidently, and then hope that Oregon and Florida State also lose.
Prediction
Oklahoma State probably should have dropped out of the Top 25 a while ago. They have a bad 33-7 loss to South Alabama, and a 45-3 defeat at UCF. While they do have a win over the Oklahoma team that gave the Longhorns their only defeat of the season, I just don’t see the Cowboys keeping up with Texas here. This could be the largest blowout of the Power-5 title games. I’m taking Texas to win and cover the spread.
