Game Preview
Green Bay Packers
Green Bay is still the league’s worst running team, averaging only 60.6 rushing yards per contest. Even with Josh Jacobs in the lineup, they didn’t improve in that area. Sure, Jacobs made their offense a bit more diverse, but the Packs are still very limited on the ground.
Yet even with that, this team has 4 wins in the past 5 appearances. The reason: fantastic defense. Packs allow 20.5 points per game, and the defensive unit often compensates for a one-sided offense.
New England Patriots
The Pats are 3-0 at home and look much better at Gillette Stadium than on the road. Drake Maye and the boys play at least a level better in front of their own fans, so when making straight-up picks, take this into account.
Their defense is the 9th-best in the NFL, allowing 20.2 ppg. They defend the run extremely well, with a robust scrimmage line that puts even the best rushers in the league to sleep.
Packers vs. Patriots Predictions
The Packers lead the league in dropped passes, with 23 through the first 8 games. Now, the Pats are among the best defenses in the NFL, while Jordan Love leads in QB hits absorbed (46). So all this points to the guests having a hard time at Gillette Stadium, and that we should bet on the Patriots to win.
