Preview
Kansas City took down the Chargers on Sunday. It was a breakout game for Patrick Mahomes, who had posted more modest numbers so far this season with a depleted receiving corps. He finished the day 32 of 42 for 424 yards, 4 TDs, and 1 INT. The Chiefs defense has been one of their biggest assets. They rank 2nd in the NFL in points allowed, which is a scary combination for a team that also has Patrick Mahomes.
The Broncos finally got their first home win of the year, improving to 2-5. They’re staring 2-7 in the face, with matchups against the Chiefs and Bills up next. If Denver can win one or both of those games, they could get back on track and salvage the season. If not, they may be already thinking about the NFL Draft by the time Thanksgiving arrives. Their defense looked much better in the last two games, which is crucial.
Prediction
When these teams last met two weeks ago, it was an extremely defensive and low-scoring game. I expect the opposite of that this time around, with the offenses breaking out. Mahomes and Wilson will likely be airing it out in Denver, which gives Kansas City the advantage. They won by 11 against the Broncos at home, so an 8-point spread on the road isn’t a lock. That being said, I still like the Chiefs to win and cover.
