NFC South Preview
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Buccaneers won the division last year because the former No.1 pick, Baker Mayfield, finally found some stability in his game. Additionally, the Bucs have a solid defense, which is further strengthened by the addition of Haason Reddick. Of course, Mike Evans and Chris Godwin are still elite receivers, which is why bookies all see Tampa Bay as the top favorites to win the NFC South.
Atlanta Falcons
There’s plenty of talent among the Falcons, that’s for sure. They had terrible defense last year, and that was addressed this summer, with several players on that side of the ball landing in Georgia. On the other hand, we look forward to seeing QB Michael Penix and his progress, because this kid has skill.
Carolina Panthers
When discussing poor defense, the Panthers had the third-worst defense in the previous two decades, allowing 31.4 points per game. The management didn’t land any notable names in this part of the team. All eyes will again be on QB Bryce Young, who didn’t start his NFL career as planned. He has somewhat decent receivers and should be better.
New Orleans Saints
The rebuild is in progress in Louisiana, and we don’t expect to see anything flashy from the Saints. CB star, Mashon Latimore, is out, Derrek Car is retired, and overall, everything is new in New Orleans. As the season goes by, we expect them to be active on the market and make some trades, which could upgrade them.
NFC South Predictions
The Buccaneers and the Falcons will battle for the top seed in the division, that’s for sure. Right now, the edge goes to the Bucs because Mayfield is more experienced and stable, and Tampa Bay’s defense is improved compared to the previous year.
