Game Preview
Week 1 loss to the Ravens at Lucas Oil Field exposed the Colts. They have plenty of weaknesses, especially on defense. A 41-23 defeat perfectly displays the difference between the franchise from Indianapolis and the top contenders for the AFC title.
Colts allowed 506 scrimmage yards, 304 through the air and 202 on the ground. Meanwhile, Daniel Jones threw for only 166 passing yards, with a TD and a pick. And we need to say Jonathan Taylor had 98 of the team’s 102 rushing yards. Aside from him, the Colts had no rushing attack.
The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Broncos 31-10 in their season opener. Patrick Mahomes was back, having 184 passing yards, for two touchdowns and one pick. He also ran for 23 yards and one score. According to NFL odds, he is the top favorite for Comeback Player of the Year honors.
Kenneth Walker III had a fantastic debut for the Chiefs. The Super Bowl MVP ran 23 times for 173 yards and one touchdown. Walker III had a 60-yard burst, the longest of the game.
Colts vs. Chiefs Predictions
We pick the Chiefs to win and cover the spread. Indianapolis looks mediocre, and they will have plenty of problems on the defensive side of the ball throughout the year. Kansas City’s offense looks much more versatile with Walker, and we expect the hosts to solve this one routinely.
