NFL Offensive Player of the Year Contenders
Barkley had a tremendous year, during which he won the Super Bowl, broke the 2,000-yard rushing mark, and added 13 rushing touchdowns. And he played 74% of the Eagles’ snaps. Yes, he’s a superhero, but will that take a toll on him this year?
Ja’Marr Chase and Jahmyr Gibbs are next on the list. They are both primary weapons in their offenses. Chase is the connection to Joe Burrow ever since LSU, and that’s why he’s a 4-time Pro Bowler. Gibbs is the focal point of the Lions’ super offense, and he had 16 rushing touchdowns last year, plus 4 receiving.
King Henry, JJ and Puka
Derrick Henry won this award in 2020, but he is still in the mix. Knowing that John Harbaugh likes a heavy running game, King Henry will once again have plenty of chances to show his worth.
Justin Jefferston was the winner in 2022, and his 1,533 receiving yards last year indicate that JJ is again one of the best players in the NFL and surely the guy who might snatch OPOY.
Puka Nacua is our favorite dark horse. Why? After a blazing rookie year, he slowed down in the previous season. Injuries, fatigue, etc, all that affected him, but Nacua should come back as the No.1 WR for the Rams and Stafford’s logical partner on the field. Expect huge numbers.
Guys like CeeDee Lamb, Bijan Robinson, CMC, Nico Collins, and others are all having similar odds, and are the second-tier favorites.
