Game Preview

The Bucs have a very experienced offensive core, led by QB Baker Mayfield, and possibly the greatest WR duo of this century – Chris Godwin and Mike Evans. They were 2-1 during the preseason, looking more or less OK.

The question for Tampa Bay is how LB Hasson Reddick adapts to the new environment and whether he can reach his old form. This guy would be a massive addition to the Buccs if he plays well.

Penix Jr. era starts now. We don’t expect the Falcons to explode right away because the young QB needs time to adjust to the projected Falcons’ high-octane attack. Sure, there will be plenty of mistakes and errors, but there’s no pressure for either the player or the franchise.

On the other hand, the Falcons’ defense has been boosted at the draft, with LB Jaylon Walker, who is without a doubt among the top 3 defenders among rookies, DE James Pearce Jr, and two safeties, Billy Bowman Jr. and Xavier Watts.

Buccaneers vs. Falcons Head to Head

The two NFC South rivals met 63 times so far, and the result is 32-31 in Atlanta’s favor. Last year, the Falcons won both events, 31-26 on the road and 36-30 at home after OT.

Buccaneers vs. Falcons Predictions

The Buccaneers have more experience, and their team chemistry is at a higher level. Plus, Penix Jr. didn’t experience regular-season defenses, which is why we pick Tampa Bay to win.
