Seattle turned in an uninspiring and inefficient display against the Rams on Sunday night, and things could be about to get worse for them as they take on the Lions in week 2. Geno Smith threw 16 completions for a meager 112 yards and 1 touchdown as the Seattle offense struggled to make an impact. The defense certainly didn’t help his cause though, allowing opposing QB Matt Stafford to throw for 334 yards while the Rams backfield ran in 3 scores.
Detroit’s rookies were outstanding to a man in their season opener vs. the Chiefs on Thursday night. Whether it was Brian Branch’s incredible pick 6, TE Sam LaPorta’s blocking, or the efficient and dynamic running of Jahmyr Gibbs there was a lot to like about this Detroit team. Jared Goff has become Mr. Consistency in the NFL of late and the former #1 pick looks like he is enjoying his football at last.
Prediction
The last two meetings between these teams have produced over 80 points in each game. This one could well be another high-scoring affair. The Lions’ defense looks far superior to that of the Seahawks so I am backing Detroit to win here.
