Preview

Carolina fell to 1-7 in their loss to the Colts on Sunday, continuing to struggle on a weekly basis. It was a grim result for the Panthers, as they watched QB Bryce Young throw two pick sixes on a day where C.J. Stroud set rookie records for Houston. Without a 1st-round pick in this coming draft, Carolina needs to find some positives to build on. Miles Sanders has been a huge disappointment, but could still provide a spark.

The Bears played the Saints relatively close, which is somewhat encouraging considering QB Justin Fields remained sidelined due to injury. Chicago has double the incentive to win this game, with the chance to make the draft pick they received from Carolina even better. They have the second half of the season to determine if they’ll use that pick on a new QB, or continue trying to build around 2021 pick Justin Fields.

Prediction

This could be a pretty brutal game. Thursday night games have been a bit better this year compared to last, but this is not an ideal matchup. Each of these teams is already at 7 losses, making them very unlikely to make a playoff push at any point. This will likely be a low-scoring game with inexperienced QBs at the helm. Chicago has the slightly more complete roster. That should be enough to get them a home victory.
