Game Preview

An interesting clash in the NHL is set for Jan 15, as the in-form Toronto Maple Leafs travel to Las Vegas. The Maple Leafs have turned a corner in recent weeks, winning seven of their last ten to improve their overall record to 23-16-7. Despite that, a return to winning ways is required this week following a humbling 6-1 road loss to the Utah Mammoth on Tuesday.

Toronto were weak defensively throughout that defeat, allowing three goals in the second period and two further efforts in the final frame. Their road form has been a notable concern throughout the campaign, winning just seven of their 20 games. Once again, Auston Matthews is likely to be their key player, having scored a team-high 22 goals in 2025-26.

The Golden Knights should be a confident unit ahead of this clash on Thursday. Vegas have won each of their last four to storm to the top of the Pacific Division. They have played two fewer games than the Edmonton Oilers, who sit second, and no side have suffered fewer regulation defeats in the division so far this term.

Vegas were at their offensive best earlier in the week, as they landed a 7-2 success against the San Jose Sharks, Tomas Hertl was the standout performer, scoring twice, and adding three assists. At the T-Mobile Arena, Vegas have been consistent, going 10-6-6.

Maple Leafs vs. Golden Knights Picks

Toronto’s weakness on the road was reflected against the Mammoth earlier this week, and that would be a major concern ahead of this showdown. Therefore, the balance play appears to be with the home team on Thursday.
