It has been largely a productive start to the new NHL season for the Chicago Blackhawks, as they have gone 6-5-3 across their opening 14 games. The Blackhawks have won five of their last ten in the competition, and they already rank among one of the best defensive teams in the Central Division.
Chicago’s excellent run of form has seen them close just three times in regulation, but their tally of 44 goals remains a point of concern. Despite that, the Blackhawks excelled offensively in their latest outing after beating the Vancouver Canucks 5-2 on the road. Tyler Bertuzzi scored three in the success.
Meanwhile, it has been a damaging start to the campaign for the Calgary Flames, and they are rooted to the bottom of the Pacific Division after going 4-9-2. Despite that, plenty of confidence will be taken from their recent performances after winning two games in a row.
The Flames were excellent in their latest home game, as they hammered the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-1 at the Scotiabank Saddledome. Adam Klapka, Blake Coleman, and Mikael Backlund all ended the night with goals.
