Game Preview
The Vegas Golden Knights will be aiming to get off the mark for the new season at the second attempt when they travel to San Jose on Thursday. It was an entertaining start to the campaign for fans at the T-Mobile Arena, but defensively, there is work to be done for the Golden Knights.
Vegas allowed five regulation time goals, and they trailed 2-0 after the opening frame. However, credit should also be given for the character that they showed to get back into the game, scoring three in the second period, and twice in the third. Pavel Dorofeyev was the star of the night, netting three excellent goals.
San Jose will be hoping for an improved campaign in 2025-26 after finishing 16th in the Western Conference last term. It was the sixth straight season in which they failed to make the playoffs, and their road record of 8-23-10 was a big reason for their struggles.
Ryan Warsofsky remains the manager for the forthcoming season, but he will be under immediate pressure to get results back on track. It was a mixed pre-season for the franchise, as they went 2-4-0, with half of their victories coming at home.
Golden Knights vs. Sharks Picks
Despite a defensively poor showing on opening night, the offensive quality that the Golden Knights possess did shine. That could ensure that they are too hot for the Sharks this week.
