Game Preview

Excluding the 1-1 draw with Jamaica in the first round of the Gold Cup, the Americans have been pretty good thus far. The most impressive thing about their run is that they’re without their biggest superstars – Christian Pulisic, Gio Reyna, Folarin Balogun, and a few others – who were instrumental in the USMNT’s CONCACAF Nations League just a few weeks ago.

In the 2023 Gold Cup, the core of the US team is made up of players from the MLS. The striker for FC Dallas, Jesus Ferreira has been brilliant in the offense, scoring most of this team’s goals thus far. At the back, LA Galaxy’s Jalen Neal and New England Revolution’s DeJuan Jones have been fantastic in this tournament.

Over in the center of the pitch, it’s Djordje Mihajlovic who’s been the standout player, a 24-year-old who’s playing for AZ Alkmaar in the Netherlands. Although these guys can’t be called stars (at least not yet), they definitely look capable of beating Panama on Wednesday.

USMNT vs. Panama Prediction

The Americans should have no problems winning against Panama. The USMNT’s players are far superior to their opponents in practically every aspect of the game. Add to that the fact that they’re the hosts of the 2023 Gold Cup, and you’ll understand why anything but an easy win for the US would be a huge upset.
