However, their opening victory would signal the best and worst of the Blues, as they looked vulnerable in Xabi Alonso’s favored 3-4-2-1 formation, while questions continue to be asked of goalkeeper Robert Sanchez after his mistake in the win.
Palmer was the star of the show, scoring and registering one assist in his first appearance since being left out of Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad. Moises Caicedo should be fit enough to return for the Blues this weekend, but Enzo Fernandez may be absent as rumors of a move to Man City gather pace.

Brighton Setting Early Pace in EPL Standings
Fabian Hürzeler guided Brighton back into Europe last season, and despite losing key striker Danny Welbeck in the summer, another strong campaign is expected by the Seagulls this term.
The early signs look incredibly promising, as Brighton were excellent 4-0 winners against Aston Villa on the opening weekend to send them to the top of the early standings. Jack Hinshelwood continued to show excellent form, scoring twice after being deployed in the number ten role.
Maxim De Cuyper also thrived in an offensive role, registering the most shots of any player on the field. Building on that win is now the big task, but fatigue could play a role, as Brighton have an important Europa League qualifier on Thursday.
