Man City vs. Newcastle Head-to-Head

Game Preview
The race for the Premier League title took another twist in midweek, with Arsenal’s draw at Wolves meaning that Man City now have the destination of England’s top prize in their own hands.
City have been reliable in recent weeks, winning three of their last four in the league. A big reason for their improvement has been their defensive record, allowing just eight goals in their last 12, which is the fewest of any side in the top-flight.
Omar Marmoush has been a constant threat in previous games against the Magpies, scoring five in his last two appearances against Newcastle at the Etihad. Man City were at their dominant best in their most recent league game, beating Fulham 3-0.
This weekend’s clash is also a vital fixture for Newcastle, as they currently sit eight points adrift of the top five. A three-game losing run has ended in recent weeks, winning their previous three in all competitions.
It should also be noted that their away form has improved considerably, winning their last two and scoring nine goals in wins over Aston Villa and Qarabag in the FA Cup and Champions League, respectively.
However, away wins against higher-placed teams have been a rarity. Each of Newcastle’s last nine victories on the road have come against teams in the bottom ten places, while they are winless in their last ten on the road against top-ten teams.
Man City vs. Newcastle Picks
The door has been left wide open for Man City to move within two points of Arsenal at the top of the standings. City’s dominant home record against the Magpies is hard to ignore, and a comfortable win for the hosts could be a likely outcome.
