Whisper it quietly, but Man United could be back. Michael Carrick has transformed the fortunes of the club since arriving at Old Trafford, winning three on the bounce and scoring eight goals. Back-to-back wins against Arsenal and Man City was followed up with a dramatic late win over Fulham last Sunday.
Tottenham can only imagine that kind of form, as they continue to sit toward the bottom of the standings following a 2-2 draw against Man City last weekend. However, Spurs showed excellent character to fight back from 2-0 down to rescue a point.
United’s form is well worth considering, as the Red Devils have avoided defeat in their last seven. Carrick could become the first manager to lead United to a four-game winning streak since Erik ten Hag in February 2024. The form advantage is with the Red Devils, as Spurs are winless in their last six.
Defensive issues have been a constant problem for Thomas Frank, with only Burnley and Wolves allowing more first half goals. That is a major issue considering that Tottenham are winless in all ten games in which they have trailed at the break this season.
Matheus Cunha has been an improved performer since Carrick’s return. The Brazilian has registered four goal involvements in his last five appearances, which includes excellently taken finishes in the last two.
